Technology industry is one of the fastest growing money makers in the world. If you are thinking about starting a blog that revolves around technology, hardware, software, gadgets, gizmos etc. then you can be sure that not only will that blog build a community for you, but will also generate revenue.
Technology companies are always looking out for influencers. Influencers are people who can drive opinions of other people. For example, by writing this post, I am driving your opinion about technology blogging, so I am an influencer in the blogging niche. Tech companies pay tech influencers to promote their products and invite them to exclusive product launches.
If you can bring traffic to a tech blog, you can be sure that you are going to make a handsome amount of money from your blog in the long run.
In this post, I will tell you some ways of monetizing your technology blog.
#1 Advertising
Advertising is where a company will pay you to place a banner in the sidebar of your blog. The money you can make depends upon the amount and quality of traffic that your blog is getting. The unit of measurement here is CPM, i.e. cost per mile. For example, if a brand offers you $3 CPM, and your blog gets 30,000 visitors a month, then you will make $90 in a month. This is just an estimate though.
It is a passive source of income, once you place the ad in the sidebar; you have to do nothing else.
Getting direct ad sales of this form is difficult; therefore it is always recommend joining an ad network. The best of the lot is Google AdSense. Google AdSense has the largest no. of advertisers, excellent tracking technology and best CPM rates in the industry.
#2 Sponsored reviews
This is a real money maker in the technology niche and you can start earning from this method as soon as you reach, let’s say 500 to 1000 subscribers or roughly 10,000 monthly visitors. So basically once you have some stats to show off, start contacting technology companies located nearby to tell them about your blog and ask for product reviews.
It will take some convincing on the phone, but if you persist and tell the person at the end about how this relationship will help them market their product better, you will be given review units of their latest gadgets.
Some companies let you keep their products as a gift, which you can sell later to get cash.
#3 Affiliate marketing
Whenever you are writing a review, don’t forget to add a link to places where people can buy that product. Most of the eCommerce companies have what they say affiliate program. Join that. You will get custom links to put on your website. Whenever someone will buy a product linking on that link you will get a commission.
