Its been almost 2 years that our Indian smartphone market is seeing budget smartphones coming out with good specifications.It all started with the launch of Moto G and then companies like Xiaomi,Yu and Lenovo started launching smartphones high on features but low on prices.
Now out of these,Xiaomi shined the most.The launch of MI3 stormed the smartphone market and then Redmi 1s,Redmi Note and its other smarthphones came up to be very successful.Now the thing is,what did Xiaomi had that its competitors didn't and what Xiaomi did do that its competitors didn't do?
Well,we'll look into every aspect on which Xiaomi became successful.
1.Keeping The Prices Low
Xiaomi did a great job in setting up the prices for its smartphone.Upon launch,Mi3 was the best smartphone available at 13K(INR) and same thing with the 6K(INR) device Redmi 1s.Xiaomi has always set the prices low without compromising with the quality.
How did Xiaomi Keep The Price So Low?
Xiaomi implemented a great strategy and that was "not investing in physical stores"! In every country,Xiaomi sells out their smartphones via Online Shopping Sites and thats how they save money which they can spend on the smartphones keeping the prices of the devices low.Yeah,no investment on building showrooms and getting employees there.Moreover,have you ever seen a Xiaomi mobile advertisement on TV?No,because Xiaomi played very well there and saved up a good huge amount of money by just advertising over the Internet and nowhere else.
2.Joining Hands With The Best
What do you want more when you get to start something in partnership with a Champion? You have won half of the game there ;) Thats exactly what Xiaomi did.Xiaomi chose the best E-Commerce platform in India,Flipkart as the platform to sell its product.As customer trusted Flipkart to give the best service,they trusted Xiaomi too.Moreover Flipkart gave Xiaomi a good reach in both creating the buzz before launch and selling the products around different parts of India.
3.Creating Good Buzz On The Internet
Currently,the best way to market a product is via Internet and if it goes viral,you know you are going to rock!As Xiaomi sell its products via E-Commerce sites,it started creating buzz on the Internet.It gained good engagement over the Social Media and got a great no. of youth going crazy over their phones.
Some more small things that went to work quite big for Xiaomi:
1)The Flash Sales- Xiaomi brought them to India and its common of shoppers getting attracted to "limited" quantity products.So the excitement of getting the product booked in seconds or else losing it created a good hype in India.
2)Warranty available even after rooting- This was a huge plus point for Xiaomi has they were the first brand to provide such service in India
3)The MIUI- Well this was a great attraction as MIUI is one of the best UIs available for Android
